Happy Independence Day!

Not just a long holiday from work.  Not just a reason to relax at a lake and stuff yourself silly with grilled treats.  Not just the one time of year some people can shoot off fireworks.  It's the time we remember how great it is to live where we do, how we do and as free as we do.  To be thankful that we can go to school and work without worrying about the burdens other parts of the world face.

So, I apologize for my lack of posts lately but there isn't much to report from the Koppelman camp.  School is over.  The election is over.  It's just been great relaxing and enjoying time with the kids, and Ben when he is home.

Tonight was the first night that Reagan fell asleep in his new bed without one of us laying there or without him falling asleep in our bed first.  That is a terrible habit to break so I am trying to avoid it.  This morning Madison was in our bed by 2:00 am and Reagan joined us at 5:00 am.  He woke up ready for waffles (affles as he calls them) and there will be no cooking happening in this house before 7:00 am.  So he joined the three of us in a queen bed which means 2 on each pillow and sometimes 3 on one, generally mine.  When I woke up at 6:45, Reagan was laying half on top of his sister and half kicking his dad out of bed.  It was pretty cute.  There is something about our pillows that go with our Sleep Number bed that he loves.

My goal for July is to start cooking something different than the same old crap I have been giving my family for the past many years.  I am now a Food Network junkie and my goal is to try at least one new recipe each week.  If it turns out well, I'll post the recipe and a picture.

Well, it's 11:00 pm and I am going to go pull Madison from playing American Idol on the XBox with her dad.
